Enhanced Cleaning Protocols

In today’s world, planning a get-a-way can be nerve-wracking enough including assuring your vacation destination is safe from the invisible dangers that currently haunt all areas of our world!

AFHoldings, LLC takes your health seriously by following a specific set of steps outlined here. We do this to assure that you arrive in the safest and cleanest environment possible while you are in your home away from home. These steps are followed after every guest of ours checks out.

First…before we touch/clean anything in our rental homes after a guest leaves, we run a commercial ozone generator in the home, turn it on and shut the doors and windows and let it run for a set number of hours. Ozone (O3) is a gas composed of three oxygen atoms, and is naturally generated when atmospheric Oxygen (O2) rises to the stratosphere, and is exposed to the sun’s ultraviolet rays, forming a layer of protection known as the Ozone layer. Our advanced Ozone generating equipment mimics this natural process, converting the Oxygen (O2) present in the air into Ozone (O3).

Ozone is a highly effective natural sterilizer that can inactivate practically any organic contaminant on contact. As it is a highly reactive gas, Ozone continually reverts back to its most stable form by releasing one of its atoms to turn back into Oxygen (from O3 to O2). As the additional Oxygen atom breaks free, it will oxidize any organic matter it touches, killing organic contaminants at a cellular level. Additionally, Ozone destroys viruses by diffusing through the protein coat into the virus’s nucleic acid core, resulting in damage of the viral RNA, as well as destroying the capsid or exterior protein shell by oxidation. This is all just a fancy way of saying Ozone kills a virus’s ability to stay alive, reproduce, and grow into infection-causing material. 

Second…After the ozone generator completes its timing cycle, the home is allowed to sit for the rest of the day and the air particles/organisms settle from what was destroyed. Then we enter the home, opening all the windows and turning on all the ceiling fans, converting any residual Ozone (which only has a half-life of 15 minutes anyway) into fresh and sterile Oxygen. We then wipe down all the surfaces with Clorox disinfectant wipes and proceed with our standard cleaning protocols, including washing all linens, towels, and kitchen rags in +120° soap and water. We dispose of the non-scratching kitchen sponge, and every guest gets a fresh new one. 

Third…We steam clean all common surfaces for that extra step to kill any organisms that might have been left behind. We steam all items in the bathroom including toilets, kitchen countertops, stove, microwave, light switches, door handles, floor surfaces as well as the leather furniture, bed mattresses, comforters, and pillows. Steam cleaning is a safe and eco-friendly, kills germs, viruses, and potential mold spores. It also helps to remove allergens.  

Fourth…When everything is finished, our last step in the homes ends with the use of an eco-friendly disinfectant fogger. Our fogger uses Hospital Grade Performacide (EPA Registered 87508 as a List-N Disinfectant / Sanitizer / Tuberculocide / Virucide / Fungicide / Algaecide / Simcide / Deodorizer) which creates an eco-friendly and non-residual Chlorine Dioxide gas sprayed at 20ppm at 5 microns. This is just a fancy way of saying we spray really small particles of this natural electrocharged disinfectant that naturally dissipates, with no carcinogens or poisonous residuals.

EVERYTHING in the home is sprayed: walls, floors, inside cabinets, under sinks, furniture, light switches, door handles, etc. Once the fogging is complete; the door is closed and no human reenters until you arrive! 

Finally... the air in our homes is continually cleaned using HEPA filters before and during your stay. In each bedroom, and in the living room, we use Levoit Air Purifiers, which circulates the air every 30 minutes, and removes 99.97% of harmful dust, pollen, pet dander, mold and other 0.3 micron allergens through its 3-in-1 filtration system. When using the home’s AC or heating system, the entire house is filtered with a 3M Filtrete Allergen Bacteria and Virus 1500 MPR (Microparticle Performance Rating) air filter. This is just a fancy way of saying this filter captures microscopic particles such as smoke, cough and sneeze debris, bacteria and virus particles, as well as household dust and pollen.

It is our goal to keep you as healthy as possible during your stay, so you can safely return home, and plan your next vacation with us. However, when not booked with paid guests, our parents often enjoy spending time down here with us, so at the very least, our standard cleaning process is done to protect them while they stay in our vacation condo. This is just a fancy way of saying our cleaning process is Mom approved! 

To provide transparency with our cleaning process, our cleaning team takes specific and random photos of the cleaning process with date and time stamps, then provides a copy of these photos to you!  Here is an example of a report you will receive.
