HEPA Filters 

Energy-efficient windows and doors are good at keeping pollutants out of your home, but they also trap in a lot of bad stuff. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, the concentration of some pollutants is often two to five times higher indoors than outdoors. Pollutants—such as smoke from tobacco, burning wood, and cooking; gases from cleaning products and building materials; dust mites; mold; and pet dander—all contribute to an unhealthy indoor environment that has ill effects on human health. Over the past year, we’ve seen these hazardous conditions compounded by the presence of wildfires in California and the Midwest—as well as SARS-CoV-2.

To offset these pollutants, and to help keep your unit as clean as possible, every room in our vacation rentals uses a Levoit High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filters which circulates the air every 30 minutes, and removes 99.97% of harmful dust, pollen, pet dander, mold and other 0.3 micron allergens through its 3-in-1 filtration system. 

Our filters are smart filters, meaning they run on a preset schedule for maximum cleaning while adjusting for optimum sound comfort.  Our bedroom filters run on High Mode during the day, which provides maximum air cleaning and circulation.  At 8pm, the Levoit turns itself to nighttime quite mode, which continues its air cleaning and circulation but at a whisper-fan rate.  The living room filters operate inversely of the bedroom schedules.  During the day, the living room air filter runs at a lower rate, to allow for conversations and TV viewing.  At night (10:00pm) the air filter turn to high mode, which provides for maximum air cleaning and circulation. 

We monitor the status and quality of each filter, as well as preform a efficiency check after each rental, and report each room's filter life on the check-in sheet, to verify you are getting quality air filtration. We change our filters when the system detects 20% of useful life left, or if the Air Quality Indicator alerts to Moderate/Yellow levels.  

When using the home's AC or heating system, the entire house is again filtered with a 3M Filtrete Allergen Bacteria and Virus 1500 MPR (Microparticle Performance Rating) air filter. Filtrete Allergen, Bacteria & Virus Air Filters help capture unwanted particles such as smoke, cough and sneeze debris, bacteria and viruses--and large particles, including lint, household dust and pollen from your household air, contributing to a cleaner, fresher home environment.  We change our filters after 90-in use days.  

 

Hypoallergenic Waterproof Mattress Protectors

All our rental mattresses use SafeRest Premium Hypoallergenic Waterproof & Vinyl Free mattress protectors.  These breathable fitted sheet style mattress protectors offer premium protection against dust mites, fluids, urine, perspiration, allergens and bacteria making them especially helpful for those with kids, pets, allergies, asthma or incontinence.

Dust mites are a constant problem for millions of Americans who suffer from daily allergy and asthma triggers. SafeRest mattress protectors prevent dust mites from passing into the mattress where they would normally multiply and defecate. By reducing dust mite exposure to the mattress, the sleeper can better control their sleep environment resulting in a reduction in allergy triggers and better air quality.

To prevent heat buildup keeping our protectors cool and noiseless, the surface material is made with soft cotton terry back coated with a breathable polyurethane membrane. To ensure a great fit, an elastic band is used on the side skirt to automatically pull excess material under the mattress. SafeRest pillow protectors are also recommended for added dust mite, fluid and allergen protection.

We wash every mattress protector after each rental in 120F bleach water, then steam-clean each mattress for maximum protection and sanitation.  Bedding is also washed, with comforters steamed-cleaned. Pictures of the steam cleaning are provided with each rental.
